Thought of the Day
25 And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation: 26 But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him. ~ II SAMUEL 15:25-26
We need to see the humility of the heart of David. He is fleeing Jerusalem as Absalom, his son, has declared himself king. Zadok the priest, was bringing the Ark of God with David but David sent it back. “He will bring me again, and shew me both it, and His habitation.” But if the Lord no longer delighted in David as king then he says “behold, here am I”. What is our reaction toward our own placing? Do we declare ourselves to be something or do we respond with humility to “let Him do to me as seemeth good unto Him”. If there is any boldness let it be Him and not our own. If there is any authority, it is Him alone and not our declaring ourselves to be something.
Job 42:2-4 King James Version (KJV)
1 Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
